Tim Voors: The Ultimate Journey of Body and Soul

Imagine walking 4,500 kilometers across America—from the rugged Canadian border to the sun-baked trails of Mexico. It sounds daunting, doesn’t it? For Tim Voors, this epic trek along the continental divide trail Ā is more than a physical challenge. It’s a transformative odyssey through untamed wilderness, where snow-capped peaks, prowling bears, and bone-chilling cold test every step. Yet, amid the struggle, there’s a deeper truth: long-distance walking isn’t just about endurance. It’s a meditation, a way to strip life down to its essence and reconnect with the raw energy of the world.

Why Do We Walk?
For some, journeys like this are about achievement. For others, they’re a lifeline—a chance to heal, find balance, or rediscover purpose. Along the trail, Tim encounters a family of seven, navigating the wilderness with nothing but small backpacks. The oldest child is 13; the youngest, still a baby. Despite the challenges, they radiate joy. It begs the question: What is it about walking vast distances that calls to so many? And what does it remind us about life’s true priorities?

A Pilgrimage for the Modern Age
Whether it’s 100 kilometers in Portugal or 4,500 kilometers across continents, long-distance walking has become a secular pilgrimage. It’s not just about the miles—it’s a ritual to cleanse the soul, to shed distractions, and to feel the pulse of the Earth beneath your feet. In a world obsessed with speed and noise, these journeys whisper a quiet truth: sometimes, moving slowly is the fastest way to find yourself.

Tim Voors’ story invites us all to ask: What could we uncover if we just kept walking?

Tim Voors has walked across countries and continents. His adventures have taken him into the unknown — through America on the 4,286 km long Pacific Crest Trail and the Continental Divide Trail, through Japan on the centuries-old 88 Temples Pilgrimage, the Te Araroa Trail in New Zealand, the Fishermen’s Trail in Portugal, and across Spain along various routes to Santiago de Compostela.
Time is precious. The world is waiting.

Life is full and busy. In his talks, Voors explains how we can create time to become dream-doers instead of daydreamers. He speaks about the importance of spending time alone in nature, and how committing to monthly ā€œmicro-adventuresā€ can be the best step you take today to redesign your life around your dreams.

As an international speaker, Tim Voors has given keynote speeches for many global companies (Booking.com, Heineken, CompaNanny, MediaMonks), at conferences (ADCN, Creative Mornings), and for media groups (FD, NPO Radio 1, NTR). He inspires audiences with custom-crafted adventure stories.

Based just north of Amsterdam, Voors works worldwide as a speaker and interim creative director for multinational brands such as Heineken, Google, Samsung, Audi, Nikon, Etihad Airways, and The North Face — helping many of them win international awards.

Voors was co-founder and chairman of The Freeforce Foundation, and served for five years on the board of the Art Directors Club Netherlands. He has also been a passionate part-time lecturer for many years at the Art Academy of Breda and the School of Journalism, Windesheim Zwolle, where he teaches concept and visual storytelling.

Recently, Tim founded the School of Dreams, offering hands-on workshops on long-distance hiking, painting travel journals, and publishing your book ideas.
