Rosolie

Paul Rosolie is an American author, filmmaker, and explorer renowned for his daring expeditions and unwavering commitment to preserving the Amazon rainforest. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Rosolie developed a fascination with nature early on, which led him to the Peruvian Amazon at the age of 18. There, he immersed himself in the jungle’s depths, working alongside indigenous communities and confronting threats to biodiversity firsthand.

In 2014, Rosolie published his memoir, Mother of God: An Extraordinary Journey into the Uncharted Tributaries of the Western Amazon, which chronicles his adventures and conservation efforts. The book received acclaim for its vivid storytelling and passionate advocacy for environmental protection.

Beyond writing, Rosolie has been involved in various media projects to raise awareness about environmental issues. Notably, he hosted the Discovery Channel’s 2014 special Eaten Alive, aiming to draw attention to Amazonian conservation, though the program garnered controversy over its portrayal of wildlife interactions.

Committed to on-the-ground conservation, Rosolie founded Junglekeepers, an organization dedicated to protecting threatened habitats in the western Amazon. Through this initiative, over 92,000 acres of primary forest have been safeguarded, involving local communities in sustainable preservation efforts.

Rosolie’s work exemplifies a blend of adventurous exploration and deep environmental stewardship, making him a prominent voice in global conservation dialogues.

Paul Rosolie’s Plan to save the Amazon

Paul Rosolie, along with a coalition of Indigenous leaders and international conservation experts, is working to protect one of the last untouched rainforests on Earth. Together, they are actively safeguarding 107,000 acres of the Las Piedras watershed in the Peruvian Amazon—a region rich with biodiversity, cultural heritage, and ecological significance. But the mission is far from over. An additional 200,000 acres urgently need protection. Every moment counts. Every contribution can help preserve this living, breathing ecosystem.

By supporting this effort, you can help protect millions of trees, endangered wildlife, and Indigenous communities whose lives are deeply intertwined with the forest. Your legacy can become part of a global movement to defend one of Earth’s most vital life-support systems. Larger gifts, donor-advised funds, and alternative giving options are welcome—reach out to their team to explore meaningful ways to contribute.

Junglekeepers, the organization behind this work, conserves threatened habitat in the Madre de Dios region—part of the Andes–Amazon biodiversity hotspot. Their dedicated rangers currently patrol nearly 77,000 acres, confronting threats like illegal logging, poaching, and gold mining. Their work is not only preserving forest, but protecting the future of the planet.
